abstract = "Physiographic studies of river basins are important to support the
structural analysis for proper planning and management of their
water and environmental resources. The objective of this study was
to develop a basic physiographic study from physical parameters of
the drainage area of the sub-basins belonging to the Atlantic
Basin - Southeast Stretch. The characterization was carried out
using the ArcHydro tools module of ArcGIS 10.1 program. Used this
characterization the Digital Elevation Model (DEM) spatial
resolution of 90 meters by 90 meters (SRTM). The data show that
the sub -basin with the largest area (58,489 km2) is 87 (counting
the areas of water bodies of Lake Guaiba and the Patos Lagoon),
located in the southern portion of the basin 8, and the less area
(5,496 km2) is 80, located in the extreme northern portion of the
basin 8. The largest river thalweg was measured in the sub-basin
85, with 598 km in length. Information and maps of this study
allow geo specialized observation of physiographic data more
quickly, facilitating the visualization for planning, management
and works involving water resources available in the area.",
